Toggl alternative
A free Toggl alternative that turns hours into invoices
Clockbill has the simple start-and-stop timer you're used to, and goes one step further for freelancers: every hour is priced at your project's rate, so your billable total and invoice are ready when the month ends.
Free — no credit card
Why freelancers switch
Tracking time is half the job. Billing it is the other half.
A timer tells you where your hours went. When you bill by the hour, you also need to know what those hours are worth and send someone an invoice for them. Clockbill keeps both in one place.
-
A timer that knows your rate
Each project has an hourly rate and currency, so every hour you track is priced in your reports and invoices.
-
Invoices from your hours
Pick a client and date range, open the invoice, and save it as a PDF. Invoice numbers count up on their own.
-
Every feature is free
Rates, clients, reports, rounding, timesheets and invoices are all included. No trial, no credit card.

Questions about switching from Toggl
Can I import my Toggl history?
Not yet. The simplest way to switch is at the start of a billing period: keep your old records exported from Toggl for reference, and track new work in Clockbill. Setting up clients and projects takes a few minutes.
Is there a desktop or mobile app?
Clockbill runs in the browser and can be installed to your desktop or phone home screen, where it opens in its own window like an app. A timer started on one device can be stopped on another; changes sync live.
Does Clockbill work for teams?
No. Clockbill is built for one person tracking their own billable work. If you need shared workspaces, roles or approvals, a team tool is a better fit.
Can I round billed time, like to 15 minutes?
Yes. Choose a rounding step in your settings and billable time rounds up to it in reports and invoices. Your tracked time stays exact.
Is Clockbill really free?
Yes. Every feature is available without paying or entering a credit card. There are no ads, your data is never sold, and you can export or delete it at any time.
